How to read your LANTITE Statement of Results
Once you’ve sat the LANTITE, your results are typically released within 2–3 weeks. The Statement of Results can be confusing if you’re not sure what you’re looking at. Here’s a plain-English breakdown.
What is the National Scale?
Your LANTITE score is reported on the National Scale — a standardised scale developed by ACER. It’s not a percentage out of 100. A higher number means a higher level of demonstrated literacy or numeracy skill.
What does “met the standard” mean?
To pass, your scale score must be at or above the National Minimum Standard, which is set at the level equivalent to the top 30% of the Australian adult population. Your Statement of Results will explicitly state whether you “met the standard” or “did not meet the standard” for each component.
What are the band descriptors?
Your results also include a band descriptor — a written description of what your score range indicates about your skills. These are useful for understanding where your strengths and weaknesses lie, especially if you need to re-sit.
If you didn’t pass
Look carefully at which component you didn’t pass and what the band descriptor says. Use this to guide your preparation for your next sitting. Focus your study time on the specific skills that the band descriptor identifies as areas for improvement.
If you did pass
Congratulations — you can now use this result as part of your teacher registration process. Keep a copy of your Statement of Results as you’ll likely need to provide it to your university and/or teacher regulatory authority.
